I have been a Motorola fan since the time it was owned by Google. From the Droid to the G-series we have witnessed some of the most brilliant Android smartphones by Motorola. We were very excited when Google decided to get the G-series to India. Later Motorola was acquired by Lenovo and we saw a lot of changes to Motorola devices.
Today Motorola announced the Motorola One Power that runs on Android One. I personally feel that this is a very good move by Lenovo as this will ensure timely updates to Motorola devices. They should do the same with the G-series as they generate huge revenue for Lenovo. I have the Moto G5 Plus that's almost an year old. At that time we hardly had smartphones that delivered near stock Android experience. Surprisingly we still don't have the Oreo update. I wish Lenovo gets all Motorola phones into the Android One initiative soon.
The Motorola One Power has everything that a smartphone should have in 2018. A large 6.2" IPS LCD display with thin bezels and a notch. Yes the notch is there. The display has a resolution of 2248 x 1080. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 636 chipset with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory with external Micro SD card support. It has a rear dual camera setup that has a primary 16 MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 5 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture that's a depth sensor. At the front it has a 12 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. I am sure both the cameras will be capable of taking great shots.
One of the key features of this phone is its battery. It's a huge or massive 5000 mAh battery that will top all the battery tests. Lastly its Splash resistant. This is kind of Motorola's tradition and is seriously good to have. I also appreciate Motorola for adapting the USB type-C connector that is generally missed on phones at this price point.
The phone will be Flipkart exclusive in India and is priced at Rs 15,999. I wish this phone was either powered by the Snapdragon 660 or Lenovo should have priced it a little lower as phones such as Mi A2 powered by the Snapdragon 660 sells for Rs 16,999 in India & $ 226.99 in the international market.
