2018 has turned out to be a great year for Nokia. They got the pricing right with their smartphones and all of them are in the Android One program. That's really great. Nokia has launched the Nokia 5.1 Plus. Lets see what Nokia has to offer with this phone.
Nokia 5.1 Plus is a budget mid-range smartphone. It's a phone with very common looks that most of the phones have in 2018. Don't get me wrong. Its indeed a good looking phone. The notch, slim bezels and a chin at the bottom makes it a usual design. Though I can't ask for any more at this price point. The glass back is very attractive and it does attract a lot of attention and yes finger print smudges too...It's slippery as any other smartphone with a glass back. The sides are made of glossy poly-carbonate. It has a very fast & accurate fingerprint scanner right under the camera module. And not to forget the 3.5 mm audio jack. Apart from the handset, we get a SIM ejector pin, Information brochure, USB type-C cable and a 10 watt charger.
Let's talk about the specifications. Nokia 5.1 Plus has a 5.86" IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen isn't bright enough and has some kind of colour shifting issues. The screen size makes it a joy to use it one handed. It's great that Nokia decided to go for the Mediatek Helio P60 chipset which is more powerful and efficient than the Snapdragon 636 that powers the Nokia 6.1 Plus. It comes in two variants, one with 3 GB RAM & 32 GB internal storage and the other with 4 GB RAM & 64 GB internal storage.
Nokia 5.1 Plus has a very capable dual camera setup at the back. It has a 13 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5 MP secondary camera for sensing depth information. In the front it has an 8 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. Both front & rear cameras have portrait mode available. This ones comes with a 3060 mAh battery which should get the job done as the screen here should help in getting the most juice out of it. HMD Global is doing great with pushing timely updates assuring that their smartphones will be the first few ones to get the security & software updates. The phone is available at a starting price of Rs.10,999 for the 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB internal storage variant and that this price it's really good. Great job Nokia.
